The Sin City arose in the 20s and 30s of XX century as a reaction of the italian mafia to a law that enforced the prohibition of activities such as gambling, prostitution, alcohol or drugs, in a fixed distance from any city. This way, in the middle of the dessert, far from everything started the life of Las Vegas city.
Its name, Las Vegas, comes from the springs of Nevada, used by the travellers for drinking before continuing their journey by train. Times went and Las Vegas became the favourite place of the mafia people for entertaining. In the 40s the ganster "Bugsy" Siegal built the Flamingo Hotel, the first hotel of the city. After it came many others, each one based in a diferent topic. You can find a imitation of the Venetian channels even.

Nowadays it still being a sin city, where it is permited many activities forbidden in other States.
It is a 24/7 city, never sleeps. Besides gambling and partying at clubs, Las Vegas has a wide range of shows and concerts. Le Cirque du Soleil for example has several permanent shows. I must say that personally it is not one of my favourites city, what's more, once the daylight appears and looking at the horizont you see the dessert, and the hotels' scenery made of carton it is well seen, the glamour fades away.

Just a last number, currently Las Vegas is visited for almost 35 million people and its occupation rate is of a mean of 95%, it has 122.000 hotel rooms, you can imagine the number of hotels and their size (you won't be surprised now if I tell you that I got lost in my hotel) ad is the 5th worldwide most visited destination and prefered by foreigners, and the first in the United States and the number one all over the world for betting.

The fligth to Chicago in winter offers an incredible sights of broken ice plains, as broken as our world, I thought for a while as I stared at them. The first impresión of the city in winter after spending a month in New York was of CLEANLINESS, something that in New York is basically non-existent. The second surprise, the WARMTH of its citizens, people smile, don´t run over you in the street, the taxi drivers speak to you instead of having a monologue with their friends in Swahili through the wireless headset…
It is an elegant city with one of the greatest arquitectural legacies all over the world. Jazz, clubs, theaters, and a lake that in summer time, as the locals say is like a beach. Just having a look at it from the airplain one can tell that they are right, only taking in account its size.
As the reason of my trip was for working, and I finished my work day so exhausted, I didn´t find the enough energy to make night tourism. Nevertheless, the last day I found a bit of energy and after leaving in bed my co-workers I took my camera and enjoyed such a beautiful city.

For sure it would worth coming back for visiting the museums and walking down its streets with more time.
